ODDYSea VR Project

As part of a pilot program for the U.S. Department of Education, I worked in conjunction with the National Foreign Language Center to develop a virtual reality game that teaches users the Russian language. This "escape-room"-esque game required the players to solve puzzles using verbal and text cues in Russian.

Using the Oculus Go headset and controller, students can perform such activities as organizing books by alphabetical order, or capture lab animals and place them in an order determined by verbal cues. Players are guided by a Russian-speaking computer program named "ODYS". ODYS appears in integrated videos designed to introduce the level.

I created the game using the Unity3D game engine, Oculus VR SDK, and Android Debug Bridge. Most assets were modeled and textured in Maya and Photoshop. Behaviors such as a self-validating Russian bookshelf were programmed in the C# scripting language.

The game is currently awaiting final review.
